The architectural concept is clearly divided into four blocks according to their specific functions. The blocks are positioned on either side of the backbone of the project – a rectilinear atrium serving as the main circulation area. Immediately upon entering the building, the outpatient and administration block is located on one side and the Faculty of Medicine training and student residence block is on the other. The emergency, trauma and operating block is located farther back. The long-term care block, interwoven with green spaces, is positioned in a peaceful area at the back of the building. The whole features numerous inner courtyards with welcome retreats for more privacy. In both projects, careful attention was paid to include areas for religious and ceremonial activities.
