The Sustainable Master Plan for Technopôle Angus – Phase 2 and the Port of Montréal’s Grand Quai, two Provencher_Roy projects, are winners at the Gala de reconnaissance environnement et développement durable 2019 organized by the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Montréal! This event is intended to highlight the innovative and inspiring projects of the partners of the Montréal Community Sustainable Development Plan and their concrete commitment.
The Sustainable Master Plan for Technopôle Angus- Phase 2, designed in collaboration with the Société de développement Angus, is the overall winner in the Entreprises and Institutions category. Provencher_Roy and its partners NIP Paysage, Vinci Consultants and Pageau Morel have developed an innovative master plan guided by five major social, economic and ecological orientations: job creation; harmonious integration of the site into the existing urban fabric; ecological management of the built environment and infrastructure; local ownership of the site; and the financial profitability of the project. The vision of the development of the Îlot Central aims to ensure complementarity between job creation and housing, in order to create a unique and dynamic environment. The plan thus proposes the creation of a responsible living environment inspired by the principles of environmental quality, permeability of the urban fabric, functional diversity and conviviality.
The Port of Montréal’s Grand Quai won the prize in the Corps Publics category. Foremost was the desire to preserve and enhance everything that could be reused of the original pier structure and the existing buildings. This has guided The Montreal Port Authority and Provencher_Roy’s concept, in collaboration with Pomerleau, Pageau Morel, NCK et NIP Paysage, which offers a world-class cruise terminal and a quality space for residents and visitors. A complete refurbishment of the facilities, some of which are more than 100 years old; renewed access to the river, with the lowering of the pier; and the creation of a magnificent green promenade that is connected to the pedestrian network of Old Montréal allow this project to stand out and have a significant impact in the neighbourhood.
Provencher_Roy is extremely proud to be a partner organization in the Sustainable Montréal 2016-2020 Plan. These two awards are concrete examples of the firm’s efforts to imagine and develop projects that improve the quality of life of citizens. It is also a guarantee of our ability to act positively in our community, and we invite all organizations to join us and become partners in making Montréal a sustainable metropolis.
