Roch Cayouette

Roch Cayouette has over 35 years of experience as an architect and is part of the leadership team at the helm of the practice. He specializes in the design and execution of large-scale urban residential development. Advocating for engaging, figurative, contemporary, and luminous architecture that is respectful of its environment, he is a seasoned studio director and designer who leads teams on new residential construction projects and conversion of industrial sites and heritage buildings into housing complexes. After almost 30 years at Cardinal Hardy, where he worked on transformative urban renewal projects (new signage district on the Bonaventure Autoroute at the entranceway to downtown Montréal, expansion of the Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, redevelopment of the Old Port of Montréal), Roch joined Provencher_Roy in 2015 and became a partner in 2017. For him, the constraints associated with urban and heritage environments present rich, potentially character-revealing elements and paths to explore.

Roch leads several innovative mixed-use and multi-phase residential projects (between 100 and 500 units for rental, affordable community housing, or co-owned properties), including Symphonia POP, a residential tower with cubic architecture on Nuns’ Island; NOCA, a residential complex at Bassins du Havre in the southwest borough of Montréal; TAK Village, an archipelago of rows of stacked town houses valuing the use of wood (charred and pre-aged) for structure and siding; and the Arbora project in Griffintown, the largest residential complex constructed with cross-laminated timber (CLT) in Québec, certified LEED Platinum. In addition, he is currently working as lead designer, with the Advocate Architect team, on the large-scale Maisons des aînés project spanning the province of Québec.
