Carré Laval – Carbon-neutral Innovation District
The creation of a guide enabling structured decision-making by the City of Laval and determining benchmarks for conveying the strong potential of the former stone quarry. This was Provencher_Roy’s objective in designing the Master Plan for Carré Laval, a carbon-neutral innovation district in the heart of downtown.
In addition to strengthening Laval’s downtown, the project will truly create an ecosystem comprised of a large urban park and body of water.

A genuine ecosystem
Once it has been rehabilitated, the site will constitute a refreshing “island” with a linear garden running through it. All generations will benefit, as citizens thrive in symbiosis with nature.
An interface between park and city
Provencher_Roy has envisioned a vast green space connecting with downtown Laval, in addition to providing a multitude of new infrastructures and supplementary services. Situated on the periphery of the park, the buildings serve as interfaces between a natural space dedicated to contemplation on one side and the chaos of the City on the other side.
Designed for pedestrians and sheltered from vehicles, a large promenade links residential buildings and those destined for innovative scientific research. Anchored in the heart of the project, the school and community centre centre contribute to creating a multigenerational district accommodating residents of all walks of life.
