Josée Bérubé

Partner, Architect - Urban Planner OAQ, OUQ, ASC, LEED AP BD+C

Architect and urban planner Josée Bérubé joined Provencher_Roy in 2015, after 2 decades of practice with Cardinal Hardy. Having acquired nearly 40 years of experience, she has distinguished herself particularly in the realms of sustainable urban development and integration of contemporary architectural design in classified heritage settings. Her recognized aptitudes for coordination of urban planning projects in phases by multidisciplinary teams, and her holistic approach to development parameters have made her a natural leader on a panoply of feasibility studies; real estate analyses; comprehensive plans; and master plans (Loyola and Sir George William campuses at Concordia, Vanier College, Viger Square, Ottawa Train Station).

Josée assumes a leadership role on projects presenting considerable urban integration challenges, such as HEC Montréal’s new downtown construction (Hélène Desmarais Building), the Place du Portage III transformation, or the Montreal Heart Institute expansion. Conveyed through the development of urban spaces that are not only sustainable, but also distinctive and harmonious, her unique expertise is instrumental in accomplishing flagship mandates, like the Sainte-Catherine Street West and Phillips Square redevelopment projects, and the Radio-Canada site development project.

Josée was honoured for her integrity, consideration of public interests, and community and academic commitments, in December of 2020, when she was nominated as Emeritus member of the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec (OUQ). Her rich diversified career reflects her full dedication to her profession, teaching, and numerous causes related to urban development and essential ecologically sustainable practices.
