Alex Leung

Alex Leung started his journey in architecture with a diploma in Building Technology from the Diploma in Building Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and subsequently completed a Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction from Carleton University in 1989.  Following his graduation Alex joined GRC Architects and continued to develop his practice, becoming a principal at GRC Architects in 2011 and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 2020.

With his 36 years of experience Alex brings design excellence, technical acumen and proven management skills to every assignment with a very strong focus on design quality, client service, professionalism, and integrity. He is a project leader, representing projects to clients, managing project teams large and small and setting the design direction for assignments. Mentorship of staff is one of Alex’s interests with many younger staff having had the benefit of his tutelage.

His portfolio encompasses work for institutional clients including the City of Ottawa, Canadian War Museum for which he was a key team member, New Brunswick Museum, Algonquin College, Carleton University, and Department of National Defence. In addition, Alex has developed a portfolio of Private sector clients in residential design. His very diverse experience includes renovations, additions, new builds, and feasibility studies. Many of these assignments involve complex program requirements and challenging sites and demanding imperatives for sustainable design – always aligned with client objectives and operational needs.
