Reception Pavilion of Québec’s National Assembly wins International Architecture Awards 2022 for Excellence
The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design (in partnership with the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies) has awarded the International Architecture Awards 2022 to the Reception Pavilion of Québec’s National Assembly in the Government Buildings category.
The design of the Reception Pavilion revolutionizes how citizens participate in their democracy. It adds sweeping spaces for public gathering and a welcoming new entrance, transforming the 1877 Parliament into an open, inclusive and lively hub. Since its opening, the Pavilion has hosted a variety of public events and functions, becoming a place of pride for citizens and a destination for international visitors.
“This year’s winning projects,” states Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, President and CEO of The Chicago Athenaeum, “show remarkable sensitivity to their surroundings and local cultures, inclusive design, and sustainable solutions.”
Founded in 2005, The International Architecture Awards are dedicated to the recognition of excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global point-of-view. The program pays tribute to new developments in design and underscores the directions and understanding of current cutting-edge processes consistent with today’s design thinking.
