On April 22, in celebration of Earth Day, we marked the start of construction of a 12-storey high-performance rental residential building in Terrebonne.
Led by the Fonds immobilier FTQ, in collaboration with Développement FTG, Provencher_Roy, Elema, Genimac, JCB and Upbrella, this mass timber project represents the first phase of a 164-unit residential development. It is targeting Zero Carbon Building – Design certification from the Canada Green Building Council.
Designed as an innovative and replicable model, the project aims to accelerate the delivery of new housing while promoting more sustainable and responsible practices, with a strong focus on reducing construction timelines and costs.
For the first time in North America, a tall mass timber residential project will implement Quebec-developed Upbrella technology, a sheltered construction system that enhances worker safety and fully protects materials from the elements.
A significant technical challenge that Provencher_Roy is taking on with enthusiasm, in close collaboration with the entire project team and partners, including Nordic Structure, MJM Acoustical Consultants, Cecobois and FPInnovations.
