Michèle Gagnon

Associate, Architect, OAA

A licensed architect based in Ottawa, Michèle completed nine years of post-secondary education in architecture, earning an Advanced College Diploma in Architectural Technology, a Bachelor of Architectural Studies, and a Master of Architecture. Her master’s thesis, Reclaiming the Land: A New Paradigm for the Future of Tuktoyaktuk, examines how architecture can avoid imposing form and meaning on culturally distinct communities. The work advocates for an empathetic design approach that continues to inform her work today.

In 2015, Michèle played a leading role in the design and conversion of a condemned stone building into a pavilion on Victoria Island in Ottawa, marking her first built project. It was later incorporated into the Bachelor of Architectural Studies program as a reference for thoughtful heritage design. In 2018, Michèle joined grc Architects, now Provencher_Roy Architectes, where she has steadily advanced within the firm. She is now leading complex educational and community projects, contributing from early concept design through construction.

Today, Michèle is an Associate Architect at Provencher_Roy. Alongside her professional practice, she also teaches Architectural Technology at Collège La Cité. Ultimately, Michèle sees architecture as a responsibility to people. Through both practice and teaching, she is committed to mentoring grounded, thoughtful practitioners who design with care for those who will inhabit their work.
