Provencher_Roy led the transformation of several floors of government office space through two distinct yet interconnected phases: Optimization 1.0 and 2.0.

Launched in 2018, the first phase focused on the reconfiguration of four consecutive workplace floors. The project was developed through an extensive and collaborative process involving our team, the client, and a network of professionals and consultants. The objective was to rethink the work environment as an adaptable, user-centred workplace that would encourage employees to return to the office, share knowledge, and connect within a welcoming and inspiring setting.

Following the success of the initial phase, the mandate was expanded to include two additional office floors and a new executive level. Optimization 2.0 introduced a more refined material palette that built upon the identity established in the first phase, enriched with sophisticated textures and elegant finishes reflecting the executive floor’s public and representative role. Organized around a large presentation room located directly opposite the elevator core, the executive level was designed to support high-level internal communications and marketing events. Flooded with natural light, a sculptural staircase divides the floor while establishing a strong architectural presence within the building.

Drawing on our extensive expertise in workplace design, we placed a strong emphasis on integrating universal and inclusive design principles to ensure optimal accessibility and usability for all users. Our overarching strategy focused on supporting employee well-being, fostering collaboration, and encouraging innovation through thoughtful design. From space planning to innovative finishes, every decision was guided by a desire to create harmony, reflect diversity, and strengthen a sense of belonging.

The executive floor also features a self-serve food and beverage area anchored by a large central island that encourages informal interaction and connection. Nearby, a variety of collaborative settings have been integrated, including open areas, semi-private spaces, and enclosed glazed meeting rooms, accommodating a range of work styles and needs. A fully equipped service kitchen, discreetly incorporated into the layout, supports executive events and receptions. The floor is further complemented by training and meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology to meet the evolving needs of the workplace. An intelligent lighting system with programmable presets enables users to adapt their environment quickly and efficiently.

The result is a workplace that continues to meet the needs of its users while setting a new benchmark for government office design.
