Benoit Laforest, a member of the leadership team overseeing the practice, joined Provencher_Roy as a partner in 2018 in the context of a partnership established with BBBL (Birtz Bastien Beaudoin Laforest), the firm he co-founded and where he worked from 1991 to 2018, notably as senior partner. He is a leading expert in management, programming, and strategic planning at the provincial level, and has an in-depth understanding of the operations and mechanisms of the Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI), a client with whom he has maintained a close relationship for many years. Whether developing master plans or conducting real estate and strategic analyses for redevelopment, expansion, or repositioning scenarios, he has overseen the completion of nearly 40 projects in the healthcare sector. These projects account for no less than three-quarters of the architectural mandates carried out in healthcare in Québec over a period of two decades.
His exceptional leadership and sensitive approach, which places the well-being of users at the forefront, complement his technical expertise and reinforce his ability to navigate the specific challenges and priorities of a project’s various stakeholders. As a designer and studio director, Benoit Laforest leads numerous large-scale hospital projects, including the new Hôpital de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the new Integrated Trauma Centre at Hôpital Sacré-Cœur de Montréal, and the expansion and redevelopment of Hôpital de Lachine and the Montreal Heart Institute. He is also involved in developing a concept for the construction of Maisons des aînés, a major initiative for which he oversees coordination with the project’s master team.
