New Maison Théâtre to open in Fall 2028

A major milestone has been reached for the new Maison Théâtre project: funding for the future building, designed by Provencher_Roy, has now been officially confirmed by the governments of Quebec and Canada, as well as the City of Montreal, allowing the project to move into the construction phase.

Located in the Angus Technopôle eco-district, in Montreal's Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough, the new Maison Théâtre represents an investment of more than $45 million. Construction is expected to begin in winter 2027, with the building scheduled to open in fall 2028.

Designed to be carbon neutral, the new facility will provide a performance venue entirely dedicated to theatre for young audiences. It will feature two performance spaces—a main theatre with a seating capacity comparable to the current Maison Théâtre and a second, 150-seat venue—along with exhibition areas and gathering spaces that encourage interaction among artists, young audiences, and the broader community.

This project marks a new chapter in the history of Maison Théâtre, which has been located at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal for more than 40 years. Its new home in the Angus Technopôle will also contribute to the cultural vitality of Montreal's east end and to the creation of a sustainable new cultural facility at the heart of a rapidly growing neighbourhood.
