Le Filon Saint-Laurent is a project designed as part of a multidisciplinary architecture competition.

It aims to develop a biodiversity corridor divided into four sectors, to create wildlife habitats and green links connecting woodlands and parks, as well as to establish a landscape identity that extends to the site furniture.

In this project, the creation of a large-scale biodiversity corridor makes it possible to connect the different Montérégian hills. The site calls for a “filon” (a guiding thread), a lead that draws its source from the geological richness of the Laurentian plain, a vector of beauty to be discovered for rejuvenation, a lifeline that renews the synergy between vegetation, wildlife, and citizens.

The first phase of the project, which marks the kickoff of the Filon Saint-Laurent, was planned to be completed by 2023. At this stage, the filon strategy focuses on enhancing the existing green and blue spaces on public land. The second phase of the project is scheduled for 2040. With the implementation of the master plan, biodiversity proliferation will have permeated the territory, helping to reduce heat islands, promote active mobility, and increase the property values of adjacent lots. Ideally, this initiative will have led to the realization of the Darlington corridor and thus the completion of the Oka–Mont-Royal Filon.
