The Reception Pavilion of the Québec National Assembly has been selected to receive one of the prestigious 2022 Governor General’s Medal in Architecture. Coordinated by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts, the award recognizes and celebrates outstanding design by Canadian architects.
With sweeping spaces for public gatherings and events and a new transparent entrance, the pavilion transforms what was an icon of democracy into a profound experience of it in action: an open, inclusive, and lively hub that invites diverse communities together at the heart of their government. As an embodiment of the Québécois civic ideals and community anchor, the pavilion has become a place of pride for citizens and a destination for international visitors. The reception pavilion of the National Assembly of Québec is a quiet but transformative insertion that revolutionizes how citizens participate in their democracy.

“This project highlight(s) a capacity to add value in a reserved way.” – Jury comment
